We have finally managed to put in place the beginnings of a more conscious approach to waste management at Coronaville.
Aside from the regulations from the NEA for sorting waste in private condominiums, the MCST council of our estate is committed to making a positive contribution to this issue.
We have much bigger hopes for increasing the amount of collectible and recyclable waste but this is the first step.
As we continue to consume the natural resources that bring us beyond our planetary boundaries - we see the small contribution that we can make as global citizens in our daily actions by simply sorting as much of our household 'waste' as possible to allow for recycling.
The bins for waste separation as located in a sheltered and easy to access spot in the car park near to the mailboxes.
This location has been chosen particularly to make it as easy as possible for all residents to contribute to this estate-wide effort.
We have three sorting bins that allow for plastic, paper and cans. We will trial and monitor this system for a few months. We ask that all residents attempt to separate their waste accordingly.
There are some specific guidelines on what can and cannot be placed into these containers.
Incorrect items placed in these will result in the batch being contaminated and therefore unable to be recycled.
Please be mindful of items which are NOT supposed to be placed into these (regardless of whether or not they are later co-mingled at the materials recovery centre).
We will be providing some guidelines to support this soon.
